Note: Counseling recommended by Center for Disease Control and Prevention includes strategies to prevent transmission of the virus to others. This has become more important as the CDC has seen a relapse of high-risk activities after a patient sees the benefits of antiretroviral therapy. In addition, women with HIV need to learn how to safely try to become pregnant without having unprotected sex.
