Students from Franciscan University of Steubenville last night mourned a member of the school's cross-country team and prayed for six other student athletes who were injured when their van crashed on Route 22 in Hanover, Washington County.

More than 350 students filled a prayer service at the university's Christ the King Chapel to mourn Kelly Roggensack, a sophomore from Tennessee, who was pronounced dead at the scene of yesterday's crash.
The team's 33 members, traveling in several vehicles, were returning from a popular practice spot on the Montour Trail when the crash happened, university spokesman Tom Sofio said.
Ms. Roggensack and six others were in a van heading west on Route 22 when it left the roadway from the passing lane, came back onto the road and rolled across the right lane. It struck a guardrail and went over a hillside off of the westbound lane, according to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco.
Two people were flown to UMPC Presbyterian, and four more were taken to Weirton Medical Center.
Their injuries did not appear to be serious, Mr. Sofio said.
It was not immediately known how the crash will affect the upcoming cross-country season or the team's future practices, he said.
Ms. Roggensack was a political science and business major who had returned to campus last weekend for pre-season training with the cross-country team.
The accident occurred less than a week before the start of classes.
"The entire university mourns [Ms. Roggensack's] loss and is praying for the repose of her soul and for the consolation of her family and friends," Franciscan University President the Rev. Terence Henry said in a statement.
State police are investigating.
