Riso returns to PICT
Thursday, August 14, 2008

Stephanie Riso, who had been residing mostly in New York while running Cabaret Pittsburgh at the Renaissance Hotel, Downtown, is returning to Pittsburgh permanently in that role and as operations director of Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre.

Riso had returned to PICT in June as a part-time administrative consultant. At the time, artistic director Andrew Paul, who co-founded PICT with Riso, had clashed with board members over how to deal with an accumulated deficit of about $100,000, leading to the resignations of the five-person executive committee and six members of the board of directors. Jameson Gilpatrick, general manager for less than a year, also left to take a job at Long Wharf Theatre in Connecticut.

Riso's husband, Tony Richards, will resume his solo singing career and will teach private voice out of the couple's home in Mt. Lebanon. Both will continue their work with Cabaret Pittsburgh, which includes showcases and workshops for aspiring local artists.
